At the time of this print’s production, maritime dramas were all the rage in Paris, inspiring a new fashion trend in naval attire. Mrs. Prudhomme is delighted to see her husband and son at the cutting edge of fashion. As usual, Mr. Prud-homme seems quite pleased with himself and not the least bit self-conscious.
